About social@nordicvalley.com

In the year 1968, a small ski area in the heart of Utah’s powder country was born –Nordic valley. Nordic Valley is nestled deep in the heart of the Wasatch Mountains, however, it is just a few short miles from the restaurants, entertainment and comforts of the booming town of Ogden. Named by Forbes magazine as the third best city in the country to raise a family, Ogden and the Ogden Valley is one of the most accessible, family and budget friendly ski areas, in the country. Nordic Valley is famous for its ski school, intermediate and advanced slopes, and family friendly atmosphere. Nordic Valley was immortalized as one of the best downhill training ski areas for the 2002 Winter Olympics, which the Austrians discovered was worth pure Gold. Acquired in 2014 by Skyline Mountain Base, LLC, Nordic Valley is being restored and significantly upgraded with new trails, a makeover of the Skier Services barn, year round events, and much more. Today Nordic Valley is a 500 acre boutique ski hill, however future plans include a new gondola, several new lifts, a retail shopping area, year round activities, 3000 vertical feet and over 2000 acres of new terrain. In a few short years, Nordic valley will be completely transformed from its current state, to what we believe will be one of the best year round resorts in the U.S. Opportunity is knocking – Reserve your ski in–ski out condo, at a small resort price, and look like a visionary when the resort begins reaching its potential in just a few short years. The Pine Canyon Lodge is just a small taste of things to come. Please do not hesitate; the opportunity is limited and the momentum points to this ski season for complete sellout of the 56 initial condominiums we will be building in 2015. Skyline Mountain Base is a world-class fusion of French and American developers who know first-hand about beautiful world-class resorts which enhance the community and the well-being of all who visit or dwell. Bringing together their vast knowledge of environmentally friendly building practices and their careful approach to function, use, and integration into the surrounding community, Skyline Mountain Base is conscientiously creating a world-class resort in the heart of Ogden Valley.

Those skiers say things like “they can’t stop” or “they go too fast” – the
only times I have been taken out when riding the slope (I snowboard) is
from a skier. Getting off the lift and a skier jams their pole into the
ground too early in front of my board. A skier out of control on a green
running slamming into me. A skier cutting me off by suddenly turning and
not looking uphill. A skier in the lift line swinging their poles around
with no regard for anyone around them and hitting me in the face. A skier
turning too soon coming off the lift and crossing his skis with my board.
In the lift line, skiers continually ram their skis into the back of my
board or over the top of my deck – while most snowboarders I’ve seen give
plenty of room. I’m not saying that snowboarders can’t be assholes – anyone
can be an asshole. But in my experience, I have had way more issues with
skiers and with them being a hazard on the mountain. It might help if they
pair skiers and snowboarders on the lift separately, but that might extend
load times. But otherwise, I’ve seen MORE skiers flying down the mountain,
out of control, suddenly turning without looking, have no awareness of the
space around them. We share the mountain, we need to be mindful of each
    other.

All you damn snowboarders, have more than a million ski resorts to go to,
but still you want to fucking go to this one, and say ‘oohhhh pleasee’. So
unthankful… Just go away, and leave us skiers alone, and ski at the other
    million resorts that allow both.

You can board Alta, you just can’t ride the lifts! You can’t sled on the
    mountain either!
You did lose, “Snowboarders don’t have a constitutional right to the slopes
of Alta Ski Resort, a federal judge ruled Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge Dee Benson rejected arguments from four snowboarders
and a group called Wasatch Equality that Alta’s arrangement with the U.S.
Forest Service requires it to comply with the equal protection guarantees
in the 14th Amendment.” Deseret News

First of all, I’m a skier, skate boarder, and a surfer. Taos used to
restrict snowboarding only because the terrain was too narrow. The first
day they opened it up the boarders they were eating it hard, but they’ve
assimilated nicely. As far as culture goes, there are just as many dirt bag
ass hole skiers as there are dirt bag ass hole boarders. And these skiers
know that if there was a “snowboarders only” resort they’d throw a fit!!

9:06 “Snowboarders from all over the world, if they heard ALTA allowed
snowboarders, would FLOCK”… Only reason I’d “flock” to ALTA would be to
watch the elitists get all red-faced with impotent anger at the *gasp*
equality of allowing everyone to use PUBLIC LAND. I didn’t hear a lot of
logic from the skiers, just opinions based on limited data or brilliantly
worded retorts like “Never has been, never will be” or “stay the hell off
this mountain”. You people are truly ambassadors of your sport. Well done.

What do you expect from a bunch of purists in Utah? They don’t have the
mental capacity to question religion so why would they would we expect them
to be open to something as simple as snowboarding. It’s the same sport,
    different equipment.

Snow boarders think that the slopes are divided up into lanes,
lol……..and if you cross over into their lane they say that you cut them
off. They don’t understand or don’t care that the down hill person has the
right of way and it’s the responsibility of the person up hill to avoid the
    down hill person.

People have the right to their opinion. Some of these people handle
themselves well, but others are so aggressive and defensive as they are
caught up in their own ways. It’s kind of scary, because you never know

This whole fight between skiers and snowboarders is so old and lame…
Notice how you don’t see any skiers putting videos on YouTube? Skiers
aren’t butt hurt preteen punks. It’s so pathetic reading all the comments
bashing skiers. They make their own resort and the snowboarders cry
because they won’t let them in. How about instead of sitting in the
parking lot, you just go to a different mountain? Or start your own
snowboarders only resort. You can all get high and do 720 corks while
    chugging energy drinks

I would expect a similar response if there was a “snowboarders only”
resort. It’s not a bad business decision on Alta’s part — people go there
specifically because boarding isn’t allowed. Permitting snowboarding would
decrease ski ridership just as much as it would increase board ridership.

As a skier, there are 3 main issues I have with boarders:
    – Entering and exiting lifts is naturally more awkward just because of the
boarding position. The average boarder needs more room and this results in
slower lift lines. Also, boarders stop on top of the lift to strap in,
making it frustrating to navigate around constantly to get to the run.

    – Boarders face most of their body to the side while riding, creating a
large blind spot, some of which is even downhill. I’ve been hit by many
boarders who “didn’t see me” even though they were passing me, yet facing
    the other direction

    – Stopped skiers are much easier to see downhill since they’re standing.
So many boarders sit down to stop below a cliff, which is incredibly
dangerous. Experienced boarders don’t do this but the newer/younger ones
    do

Clearly, you guys have too much time on your hands…. if the point of the
video is these skiers are morons, why would you want to get on a mountain
with them? There literally are like 100 other mountains in the area where
you can board… what one of the old heads said is true also…. there are
allot of transitional areas on the mountain that are flat and would be
extremely irritating if you were a boarder. Why would you want to go to a
mountain like that??? There are an ass-ton of mountains that boarders are
permitted that boarders in the know avoid due to these characteristics.
But… I suppose if you have a bunch of time on your hands, loads of PBR
cans and no other important causes to dedicate yourself to, have at it! I
guess if nothing else, you got almost a quarter of a million views on
    YouTube… that is pretty impressive!

It isn’t “discrimination”. The forest service is free to set the terms for
use of the land. If you showed up with skis, they’d let you in, right?
Therefore it isn’t discrimination. There are public lands on the east coast
for example, where hunting is allowed with shotguns only. You don’t see
hunters who want to use rifles claiming “discrimination”. You either hunt
with a shotgun or go somewhere else.

MAYBE it is because skiers have their boards mosty pointed vertically on
the mountain and snowboarders have their boards mostly horizontal on the
mountain? For some reason, the two do not seem to mix well.

Snowboards aren’t rude, but some of the people that ride them sure are.
Not ALL snowboarders are rude, but there are enough rude snowboarders to
make a bad reputation for the sport. Maybe it is a youth thing because
occassionally I see young ducks skiing too fast and out of control.
Probably it is just that most young people are riding snowboards instead of
skies and there are a lot of rude, inconsiderate and irresponsible youth
    nowdays.

As a group, though, I have to agree that snowboarders tend to be the most
likely to hit other people on the mountain and the most likely to leave the
scene when they hurt someone. Countless friends and even I have been hit
by snowboarders. I don’t know why that is. Maybe snowboarding just draws
more of the inconsiderate and self-centered youth? Hard to explain really,
but there is some truth to it or else snow boarders would not have such a
    bad reputation.

I ski with snowboarding friends, but I have to admit, skiing Alta without
all the rude, inconsiderate, and dangerous snowboarders is refreshing and a
lot less stressful.than skiing mountains mixed with snowboarders

Alright so I’m a snowboarder. Let’s talk about skiing a little. I have had
many bad encounters with skiers. Not direct confrontation. I’ve never hit a
skier nor collided with one. But some of them are RETARDS! I’ve seen whole
skiing families walk up a ramp just to ride down the other side -_- I felt
like barreling through them. What’s the difference between skiing and
snowboarding? Only difference I see in the equipment is two sticks and a
snowboard cut in half >.> posture well that’s different snowboards ride
sideways skiers ride forward facing. Other than that I don’t see much
except the capacity to rip your sack if you loss control of your skis XD.
Look idc about ALTA keep your stupid mountain. The last difference is mommy
and daddy taught their little boarders to share their fun. Does anyone know
    of a STRICTLY SNOWBOARDING mountain? I don’t…
Love all you boarders. Love skiers that are cool with boards. Dislike
grumpy greedy bitchy grudge holding skiers. But still love ya cause you
