Zell Am See – A Heaven For Mountain Bikers and maybe some Zell am See 2015. GoPro ski edit.
Having been the venue of the 2002 world championship on its 8.2km long track over an altitude difference of 295 metres, Kaprun is also host to 13 other mountain bike trails with different levels of difficulties each. So once again, as it is with many other activities available in the region, all levels are catered for; from easy to proficient. The surrounding mountains also offer a wide selection of pistes in landscapes worthy of postcards pictures. Absolutely phenomenal, if you ask me!
Let us quickly remind ourselves why Zell am See – Kaprun is the biggest and busiest holiday town resort in Austria. First, it belongs to the Alpine region of Salzburg, a holiday hub for tourists from all over the world, because of the variety and the beauty of the landscapes as well as the choice of activities that seems endless. Furthermore, it is nested in the heart of the Pingzau region, caresses the banks of the Zeller Lake, and is mounted at the foot of the Schmittenhöhe, a mountain exceeding 2000 metres in height, providing all the benefits that nature had originally in store for us. Peace, relaxation, marvellous scenery, pure air, mountain, water, land and aviation activities among many others are just some of the terms one should use when mentioning this region. Let us also not forget that Zell am See is host to a very active nightlife too. And club, local as well as international cuisine restaurants, bars and typically Austrian taverns are aplenty in Zell am See, allowing thus the visitors to experience different aspects of this resorts active life and culture.
Kaprun on the other hand is at the foot of the ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ glacier, a mountain that will, because of it being covered with snow all year long, provide for snow activities even during the hot months of summer, attracting in the process thousands of snow enthusiast from all over the world each year.
Above mentioned are a few characteristics of the region of Zell am See – Kaprun that should make you think twice about your next holiday destination. As for mountain bikers, it is now easy to see why this region will be heaven to them. All that is left to do, is for you to make your way over to Zell am See – Kaprun and experience for yourself the magic of the mountain paths that are sure to have you in awe for the entire duration of your stay.
